Description:
Set in the 21st Century, Cause & Effect combines your favorite elements of fantasy with a modern setting. There's magic, Court politics, plots, royalty and much more to be found in this RPG. All play takes place in the Unseelie Court in their Sithen. What exactly a Sithen is no one can be quite sure; the Sithen rearranges itself and decorates itself on it's own choosing, as well as obeying the ruler of the Court. Basically it is the home of the Fey, the Faerie. It is said that all fairytales begin with a truth and the creatures of Faerie are the original source for Faeries. The Unseelie Court is the dark Court, and you'll find very little there that will make you think of the gentle creatures of folktales.
The Fey are thousands of years old, and very few leave the Sithen to venture out into the land of humans. Their concepts are old, and this brings a touch of medieval to the RPG. Although the time setting is the 21st Century, this is only reflected in some clothes, the plumbing of the Sithen and one lone telephone.
There are two species categories open to play in the RPG; The Sidhe and the Lesser Fey. The Lesser Fey include less powerful (politically and magically) Sidhe or Sidhe with very diluted blood, as well as species such as Pixies, Brownies, and Trow. Magic for the Sidhe is open to anything your imagination can create.
The Cause & Effect RPG is open to creative players with an intermediate to advanced level of writing. The RPG does have an adult rating though, and players must be 16 years or older to join. The RPG has a main plot; the arrival of the Seelie Princess who is to be betrothed to the Unseelie Prince in an attempt to create peace between the Courts. All players need to be aware of the events taking place concerning the betrothal, but sub-plots are very encouraged and so is player communication.
